THE GOAL...
I had been drooling over Ibis bikes for years but never could afford one. Sometime around 1999 or 2000 I noticed Ibis was clearing out some of their Mojo frames and could not resist the urge to get one. Good thing I did, because a year or two later Ibis was no more and eventually closed their doors (they have since returned). What I got was one of the last Ibis Mojo steel hardtail frames ever made, and one of the few that had rear disc brake mounts. The frame is a work of art, and I will probably never part with it. I've probably had more epic rides on this frame than any other in my 20 or so years of riding.
At any rate, the goal for this project was to build a cross country race bike. I did race it quite a bit, but it was mostly used for training rides and epic weekend rides in far off places. The frame currently sits in my basement awaiting another build (stay tuned for that!).
