When considering a front fork for my Yeti ARC project bike, there was no question what to get.... a Fox F100 RLC. This seems to be the fork-of-choice for Yeti riders, and since thats the bike I was building, how could I go wrong? Plus I've read tons of good things about Fox Forks.
I've been using the fork for a couple months now and so far it's awesome. The lockout feature is great... reach down and lock it out prior to long climbs, then just remember to reach down and UN-lock it when you get to the top. There is also an optional handlebar mount remote lockout, but my handlebars are cluttered enough as it is, so I didn't go for that option.
I'm still learning how to use the adjustable lockout force, which will supposedly let you leave the fork locked out all the time, and it will "blow off" when rough terrain is encountered.
The fork weighed in at around 3.4 lbs before I cut the steerer tube, and its probably around 3.2 to 3.3 as mounted on the bike...
THE BOTTOM LINE..
The Fox F100 is expensive...all Fox Forks are. But you are getting something that I think is well worth the money. Buy a good quality fork, and you can move it over to your next bike (which is what I plan to do). Overall, I think this is THE best fork for the serious cross country racer. My second choice was the Rock Shox SID Team, but I decided to go for the Fox since so many Yeti racers recommended it.
WHERE AND HOW TO BUY..
I picked up mine at JensonUSA.com.
